I have been an Esthetician for 19 years. I have always loved my job! Education has always been the most important element of this profession. There is always something new. That is the part I have always loved the most! I first became interested in Medical Esthetics a few years ago when Laser Hair Reduction first came about. In an industry that is constantly changing and with technology moving so fast, I realized that if I wanted to move forward and be able to offer my clients the best and most effective treatments available, I would have to make some changes. So, I started researching Medical Esthetic programs and found The Salon & Spa Career College – Champlain Institute.
I went in and took a tour of the school, and signed up that day! I liked that the classes were small, and the teachers attentive to the needs of each individual student. The subjects were challenging and I felt the teachers were very knowledgeable. So, when we entered the clinic setting I felt confident I was ready! There were many presentations by Doctors, and Representatives that gave great insight to getting out into the working field and they were very encouraging. It was reassuring to know that there is a very supportive network of people in the field.
As part of the program, I found a placement position with a Doctor in a Medispa close to home. It is a new location and the only one of it’s kind in the area. I felt at home right away, and was hired into a full-time position before I was finished school. There is both a Doctor and a Registered Nurse, and they have been very gracious in letting me be a part of everything we do. From consultations and treatments, assisting the Doctor, researching new technology, developing the web-site, marketing, and patient relations, I have gained a huge amount of experience in just a few months! I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Thanks Champlain! I have a new career, and the confidence that I can do so much more!
